Scandinavia is an area in the north of Europe. The term 'Scandinava' has different meanings:
1. The Scandinavian peninsula: Norway and Sweden
2. The countries Norway, Sweden and Denmark
3. The countries Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland
Scandinavia officially consists of the countries Sweden, Norway and
Denmark. Sometimes the term is also applied to Iceland and
Finland. Finland, however, does not officially belong to Scandinavia since a completely different
language is spoken here. In Finland a language of Eastern European/Asian origin is spoken while in Scandinavia people speak the Northern languages.
